Bank Job for Resource Client

PS joined Resource as a client in 2010 and went through our initial seminar “Tools and Techniques for Today’s Job Market”. This is the foundation of all the work we do with unemployed clients covering basic CV writing, interview skills, networking and the hidden job market. His comment on the seminar feedback sheet was “Diana was very inspirational – an excellent 2 days”.

PS had 13 one-to-one meetings with his Advisor during which time between them they revised and improved his CV 5 times. A great deal of time at the Advisor sessions with PS was spent helping him decide what direction he wanted to take his career as he wanted to move on from what he had been doing for some years. He went on Resource’s Career Transitions seminar which he enjoyed and it gave increased impetus to his discussions with his Advisor.

Early in 2011 PS attended one of Resource’s Networking Evenings where Industry Experts/Employers outline to attendees what their industry is looking for when it recruits and clients have the opportunity to present themselves to the audience in a 2 minute personal statement. At this event there was a senior manager of a major bank representing the finance industry. During the evening PS had the opportunity to speak with the finance industry expert and he was informed of 2 jobs that the bank were currently looking to fill that seemed to match PS’s skill set. He was given the relevant person at the bank to contact, and went into the interview process. After the second interview he emailed his Advisor and our Networking manager the following comment “I think it went OK – I find it very hard to tell in these situations. It’s not a run of the mill job, and I’m not a run of the mill candidate”. A day later he secured one of the two jobs.
