Professional Networking Session set to guide clients towards recruitment success
Clients who attended Resource’s recent dedicated professional networking session for administrative, clerical and general office staff were given advice in a number of key areas designed to narrow the odds in their favour when it came to the all important interview.
Ruth Goodmaker-Brown, Director of Perfect Team recruitment consultancy and industry expert, provided delegates with invaluable advice on the importance of positive non-verbal communication and how to dress for success at the interview. She said: “What you communicate non-verbally, your appearance, your body language, your demeanour, your mannerisms and how you are dressed form an immediate impression with the interviewer. These first impressions are nearly always impossible to reverse.”
She also talked delegates through the principles and practices of competency based interviewing, which a number of recruiters increasingly use to establish how a prospective candidate will perform in the workplace in the future based upon their previous occupational experiences. She stated that the advantages of competency based interviews are: 1) that the process is more reliable and valid than traditional exchange of information interviews; 2) that it allows the candidate to talk about their specific contribution to a particular situation; and 3) that the interview will be based on specific tangible behaviours associated with success in the workplace.”
