On the last day of 2009 I was made redundant after 13 years working for an organisation which I thought I would be at forever. I was suddenly faced with the daunting task of entering the job market. Having had no experience of CV writing or attending an interview or even knowing where to look for a job, it was suggested that I made contact with RESOURCE. Not only did I have to deal with the practicalities of finding a job, but I was also faced with a lack of confidence.
From my first phone call to the RESOURCE office, I was greeted with enthusiasm, time and the knowledge that I would be mentored by people who have experience and knowledge of the employment market. Within 2 weeks I had a marketable CV, skills to attend an interview and most importantly the motivation and confidence to find a new career path. RESOURCE was able to offer me advice, practical help and the belief that I could work for another organisation and move up the career ladder.
4 weeks after being made redundant I have a new and exciting career path and will always be grateful to the volunteers, trainers and staff at RESOURCE who gave me the skills, confidence and practical support to positively re-enter the work force.
