SACUK & Resource Networking Event

8th June 2026

On Tuesday evening, Resource collaborated with South Africa Chesed UK (SACUK) to host a discussion and networking event featuring a panel with successful founders and entrepreneurs Gareth Kobrin, Brendan Silver, and Jonathan Roomer. The panel was led by Resource’s Relationship manager Lynne Gayer, who guided discussion through a variety of employment topics, including recruiting, investment, and AI. The room was abuzz with dozens of attendees, who were given the opportunity to ask questions after the panel.

A major highlight of the conversation was the discussion of interview and recruitment strategy. When discussing interviews, the panelists placed lots of emphasis on the importance of a candidate’s AI literacy which they positioned as a new baseline skill for employability, not just a bonus skill. As panelist Jonathan said when asked about what he is looking for, “I ask candidates what can you do for the business that AI can’t?” As for recruiting, panelists told the audience that in order to make it past the first interview candidates should ensure they demonstrate some understanding of AI. They also made mention of how the market for younger candidates is more challenging than that of more experienced candidates.

After the panel, alongside the serving of biltong and whisky, attendees were given the time to chat and network amongst one another. Overall, it was a lovely evening filled with engaging conversation, insightful advice, and much networking opportunity.
