Volunteers' Week: Celebrating our Volunteer Community

3rd June 2026

This week is Volunteers' Week and here at Resource, we understand how important that is. It is because of our volunteers’ time and effort that we are able to do what we do! To celebrate and thank them, we invited them to gather on a lovely Monday afternoon at Barnet Museum in celebration of their work and dedication to our community.

After a cream tea in the garden behind the building, which involved bagel bites, elderflower juice, and more, volunteers entered the museum where CEO Victoria Sterman thanked everyone for their dedication to Resource. The Museum curator and trustee Mike Noronha then followed this with a quick chat about Barnet’s rich history.

Afterwards, all were given the freedom to wander the museum’s many exhibits, which include a display on the Battle of Barnet, the World Wars, and even some on the history of sports and religion in Barnet.

The charming Barnet Museum created a cozy and informative atmosphere where we were able to connect with and thank our volunteers for all that they do for us.

Here’s what everyone had to say about why they support us:

"Thank you very much indeed for such a fun afternoon yesterday. It was really nice to have such a relaxed natter and catch up with people. I learned a little bit of history too (1471!), and got to see inside a museum I have driven past many times but never ventured into."

for lovely afternoon on Monday. Such an interesting museum, delicious tea and always good to met up with other advisors."

"Thank you very much for the delightful afternoon yesterday! The tea was delicious and it was lovely to catch up with other Resource volunteers. We were then treated to a very interesting visit to the Barnet museum- what an assortment of treasures!"

a quick note to thank you and all the staff and volunteers who took part in arranging a lovely afternoon yesterday. To think that Barnet Museum has been on my doorstep all these years and I didn’t even know it existed. It was both intriguing and interesting - and the tea was delicious. Many thanks once again and I look forward to continuing my input to your fantastic organisation."

We want to reiterate how very grateful we are for our volunteers and all that they do. It is their selflessness, commitment, and kindness that makes us Resource.
