A Night to Celebrate a Volunteer of the Year: Honouring Colin Bilkus

21st January 2026

The atmosphere was filled with pride, gratitude, and celebration as the A Lifetime of Volunteering Awards 2025 took place, bringing together volunteers, leaders, and community members to recognise outstanding contributions to service. Among the many inspiring moments of the evening, one stood out as particularly special: the moment Colin Bilkus was named Volunteer of the Year by The Jewish Volunteering Network

The award night reflected the very spirit of volunteering: selflessness, commitment, and impact. Over the years, Colin has consistently gone above and beyond, dedicating countless hours to empowering others and strengthening the community. From leading insightful mock interviews to delivering engaging workshops, his work had directly supported individuals in building confidence, skills, and opportunities for the future.

As a core and deeply valued member of the Resource team, Colin has been more than just a volunteer. He has been a mentor, a guide, and a source of inspiration. His approach was always thoughtful and encouraging, ensuring that every person he supported felt heard, prepared, and motivated.

His Volunteer of the Year award stood as a reminder of the powerful difference one person can make through generosity, leadership, and a genuine desire to help others succeed.

Huge congratulations were extended to Colin Bilkus and all the other volunteers who won this award.
