As CEO of Resource supporting young people into work, the latest figures from the Office for National Statistics are worrying, but not surprising. When 16.1% of 16–24-year-olds are unemployed compared to 5.1% nationally, it’s clear young people are facing a far tougher entry point into the market.
We’re seeing talented graduates struggle to land roles, even after studying at leading institutions such as University of Cambridge. The issue isn’t ability, it’s readiness for today’s highly competitive hiring processes.
That’s why we run graduate mock assessment centres. We help young people master their introduction, clearly demonstrate key skills with strong examples, and practise the group exercises and interviews they’ll face in real recruitment processes.
Small improvements, structuring answers properly, showing commercial awareness, communicating with confidence can make a big difference.
The job market is challenging, but preparation changes outcomes. With the right support, this generation is more than ready to succeed.
Our next mock assessment centre is March Monday 9th March 2026, 18:30
